The Essentials (“You Should Know”)
These are the songs that hold a special place in the pantheon of West Coast Swing history, either due to heavy social play, being featured in a well-known routine, or featuring heavily on the competition floor. These playlists are different from my Fresh and Vintage collections, in that they don’t necessarily represent my personal taste as a DJ, instead, these are songs that I believe competitors and social dancers would benefit from listening to and learning(although plenty of them are of course favorites of mine as well).
